Solid, stylish and a definite head-turner anywhere, the HP Envy 13 is a 13-inch laptop that can beat almost any other laptop in the market. Featuring an aluminum body with magnesium alloy base, the laptop looks stunning with a gunmetal finish and imprints on the bezels. Lifting up the cover reveals a very comfortable keyboard with large raised island or chiclet style keys and huge track-pad. The keyboard is exceptional but has no back-light while the track-pad offers multi-touch options and plenty of real estate to work with. Tough and solid, the chassis can take a good amount of punishment, but bear in mind that it is more likely to make a dent than get one.
Powered by a dual-core Intel Core 2 Duo SL9600 processor and 3GB of DDR2 memory the HP Envy 13 has plenty of power to back up its stylish looks. With an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 discrete graphics that you can switch on and off the laptop walks the walk and talks the talk. A 250GB hard disk drive and 1600 x 900 resolution LED screen offers plenty of high quality HD movies and images while a new secondary slice battery adds even more battery life.
While the HP Envy 13 still retains a standard replaceable battery the secondary slice battery covers the entire bottom of the laptop. With the standard battery, you can expect about 3 to 4 hours of battery life and a lightweight laptop at 3.8 pounds. However the secondary slice battery delivers 4 to 5 hours of performance usage but ups the weight to 5.2 pounds. Connections include a HDMI port, two USB ports, an Ethernet LAN port, wireless-n connectivity, an SD Card reader and Bluetooth. The laptop does not have an internal optical disc drive but it does have the option to add on an external DVD burner or Blu-ray drive.
As an upscale, premium thin-and-light laptop, the HP Envy 13 lets you handle pretty much everything except programming, 3D rendering and photo or video editing. Office applications and Internet surfing are no problem while the discrete graphics allows for mid-range gaming from World of Warcraft all the way to Unreal Tournament. All in all, this performance in combination with its awesome looks makes the HP Envy 13 well worth the price, especially for those who can afford it.
