I believe that a lot of people assume that the new F003 iPhone clone is really just the CECT i9 with WiFi and television added. Although I can see why folks might think this, this assumption really isn’t 100% accurate. There are definite similarities between these two, but there are also some key ways in which they differ. I will discuss these things more in the following article.
The Upgrades On The F003: Of course, the big place that this phone differs from the 9 is with the addition of WiFi. This is very important to some folks because it saves them from having to pay for a data plan or it saves them from having to add data onto their sim if they are just paying from month to month. Of course, this is provided that you have access to hot spots. However, as more and more gadgets come equipped with WiFi and businesses catch on that providing it is a big draw to consumers, it seems unlikely that finding hotspots is going to be much of a problem unless you are in a very isolated area.
Additionally, the F003 includes TV whereas the i9 does not. It also has a bit of an upgraded camera and video recorder with higher resolutions. Like the i9, it has dual sim slots, four bands, Bluetooth, MP3 / MP4, Java support, and the ability to hold up to 16GB of memory. But, you’ll pay more for it as the result of these upgrades. It’s typically somewhere in the mid $100 range (at least for right now, at the time of this writing) while you can generally get a 9 for much less (sometimes, for as much as $100 less.) But, one could argue that the initial higher price is not a consideration since you will easily save this much money over the life of the phone from not having to pay for nearly as much data usage.
The Key Difference Between The F003 and The CECT i9: So other than the lack of WiFi and TV, how are these two phones really different? Well, one big consideration is size. The F003 is a slightly bigger, bulkier phone and is not as sleek. I suppose those extras are going to require some extra room and bulk. However, the F model is not nearly as fat and cumbersome as earlier models. It’s not huge or overly heavy, but it is bigger.
Specifically, it weighs 110 grams, while the i9 is generally 15 grams lighter. The F model measures 115 X 61 X 11.5 mm. The 9 is 110 X 60 X 11.5, so the biggest difference is in the length of the phone.
Which Phone Is Better?: People often ask me which of these phones are better. It’s difficult for me to answer that question, but I can tell you that the i9 is the better seller and this is probably in part due to it’s low cost, compact size, and wide availability. I think that it really boils down which features are more important to you and would therefore make one a better choice over the other.
For example, if you are a very heavy internet user and intend to use the internet browsing feature several times per day and live or work somewhere where you know that you are always going to have access to WiFi, then the F model might make sense. However, you can often get prepaid all – in – one sim cards that include very generous amounts of data or even unlimited data for not a lot of money. Still, some people prefer to use WiFi over WAP.
Very few people tell me that the TV is what makes them chose one of these phones over another, but I suppose this is possible. If this is a feature that you want, obviously the 9 is not going to provide that for you and this makes the choice very clear.
I realize that the size difference is not all that dramatic at first glance, but this is hugely important to many people. Consumers really seem to flock to the smaller phones now. Finally, the cost difference does influence this. $100 cheaper is a significant savings to many, especially when that data / WiFi equation doesn’t come into play all that much in their particular situation.
